Iditarod Quilt 12… Ready to Travel!

26 08 2012

Quilt 12 was born in Wisconsin over the summer months. The squares on this quilt were submitted by classrooms and teachers who have been following the Iditarod Traveling Quilt project or have participated in the project in a previous year.

Terrie Hanke, 2006 Iditarod Teacher on the Trail™ and Educational Committee Member had a little help with this quilt as you can see!  For some reason, Blue Jeans (affectionately known as BJ) took a special shine to this quilt from the moment the cloth was chosen for the backing of this quilt.  I wonder why!

This quilt has been given the nickname, ‘orange paws’.  Can you guess why?  Do you notice anything interesting about the paws?

During the 2012 – 2013 school year, Quilt 12 will first head to Michigan and throughout the year, visit Florida, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma, Illinois, California, Washington, and Ohio, before returning to South Dakota in June.
